At our gym our girls take pride in their warm up, they get to show off a little bit to the parents and inspire the little gymmies too. Most days you'll see a couple little girls on the side of the floor mat trying to follow along with the teams, its super cute. Our head coach puts together a new warm up routine every few months or so, she has this brilliant gift where she can choreograph just about any sound and make it look awesome!
Here is what our teams have been doing since January. (sorry they are all split up, I couldn't get the whole thing on one video)
I love these warm-ups because they do exactly what a warm up should....prepare the muscles in a way they will be used during the main practice session. They also ensure that my gymnasts are getting a relatively good amount of active flexibility training for each work out. (I have a bad habbit to opt out on active flex training for more core training, to be honest.) The girls also get extra practice to perform daily, which gives them more confidence to perform for competitions. Lastly, they are so awesome that when these girls do it I just know they are inspiring all the young girls in the gym to train hard because one day they too can do the team warm up.
